I quite often start drawings and then put them to one side for a while before going back and finishing them. I started this drawing earlier this year at a local pastels workshop, using my own reference photos that I'd taken of a black swan cygnet in Dawlish in 2017.
I started working on this drawing in a local workshop. I worked from one of my own reference photos, that I'd taken earlier this year in Suffolk.
Although I've sketched fennec foxes a few times in the last year (being desert animals that sleep most of the day, they make lovely drawing subjects!) I hadn't gotten around to creating a full size drawing of them. The reference photo I used for this drawing was a slightly grainy image I'd taken in 2016 … Continue reading Fennec Foxes
I’ve had a great week for finishing creative projects, and I am especially pleased to have completed this one! I started this pyrography quite a while ago, and have worked on it around a variety of other projects.
I started this at an art workshop in Norfolk last week, and I used Instagram and Tumblr to share a couple of 'work in progress' photos which kept me motivated to finish this one in good time! I used my own photo, taken at Colchester Zoo in 2017, as reference for this drawing.

This challenge is to post seven black and white photos of your life over a period of seven days. No people, no explanation, and to challenge someone new each day. I wasn't sure at first whether … Continue reading Seven Days, Seven B&W Photos Challenge
Last year I had my first attempt at photographing wild hares in Norfolk. After a day of driving around the countryside roads with my friend, eventually finding and photographing a few hares frolicking in a field near Hunstanton provided me with a real sense of achievment! Working with my old Samsung DSLR camera, and a … Continue reading Wild Hares in Norfolk
Making the most of the very rare opportunity of a sunny and mild Bank Holiday Monday, I visited Suffolk Owl Sanctuary for the first time this year. As I had already visited the Sanctuary a couple of times last year, I had an idea of what birds they had, and where they flew them. This … Continue reading Suffolk Owl Sanctuary
While doing some research, I stumbled across various photographers pages and groups with 365-Day Photo Projects, each posting a photo a day online. I thought I would have a go at doing this myself as I find it hard to strike a balance between either taking far too many photos or struggling to get inspired! … Continue reading 365 Day Photo Project
