A few photos I've taken around the UEA campus over the past month. Most of these have already been shared on social media as part of my '365 Day Art Challenge'.
This weekend I enjoyed an inspirational and educational visit to the wonderful Happisburgh Owls. This is brilliant for anyone who is interested in owls, as it is a wonderful opportunity to get up close and learn more about these magnificent birds - Sandra, who owns Happisburgh Owls was fantastic, and only too happy to answer … Continue reading Happisburgh Owls
Between Christmas and New Year I went for a walk around Pensthorpe Natural Park, near Fakenham in Norfolk, and took some photos: The red squirrels were a challenge to photograph, as they moved very fast! I also saw a lot of wild birds while walking around the trails, including various types of duck, geese and … Continue reading Pensthorpe Natural Park
These were actually taken the day after Winter Solstice, but the moon was still full and the sky was actually clear enough to see it! I then looked to the Christmas lights around Ipswich's Waterfront for inspiration:
This weekend I went for another seaside walk with my camera and sketchbook, this time to Mundesley in North Norfolk. It was a cold and overcast day, with intermittent rain - not the best for photography! Waves crashing onto the beach. © C L Grasby, 2018. View along the beach. © C L Grasby, 2018. This weekend I visited Southwold Pier to take some photos - seaside spots like this are great as the weather gets colder, as it is generally quite quiet and great for some creative reflections... The nights have been drawing in earlier but have brought with them some amazing sunsets. These were both taken in the last week, on separate occasions.
With the nights drawing in a lot quicker and the leaves still falling from the trees, I thought this would be a perfect opportunity to get a few long exposure shots along Norwich’s river and of the Cathedral with the lights on!
I love seeing Norwich's annual firework display, the 'Big Boom'. One of my favourite places to view it is on Mousehold Heath, near Café Britannia, as it has a fabulous view overlooking the city. There were a lot of people out on the heath this year, and it was quite difficult to get clear shots, but … Continue reading Norwich’s ‘Big Boom’
At the weekend I joined some friends to do some winter boat maintenance in Brightlingsea, Essex. It's been a few years since I last visited the area, and I was surprised at how much it had changed (or that I'd forgotten!). I had a couple of opportunities to pop out with my camera, and although … Continue reading High Tide at Brightlingsea
