Landscape Pastel Painting

Following my recent success using Pastelmat for the first time, I thought I’d try another type of paper. This time I used velour pastel paper, which was a completely different experience!

I started this in a workshop that was themed around landscapes – and I think the reference photo I chose to work from was well suited to the softer nature of the paper. I found that the pastels didn’t apply to the paper in the same way as they did with the Pastelmat, and reminded me of a watercolour.
